TRIGGER POINT THERAPY FOR SCIATICA

Sat and Sun, Sept 28 & 29, 2019  14 CEs $275

Needing some more tools to work with clients with sciatica and hip pain?  Ready to help them get back on their feet?  I'm ready to help you do just that.

HELPING YOU BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE

MY TEACHING IS NOT SIMPLY SHOWING YOU ANATOMY PICTURES AND THEN DEMONSTRATING TECHNIQUE.

MY GOAL FOR YOU IS TO REALLY GAIN DEEP UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE MUSCLES YOU ARE WORKING WITH, HOW THEY DEVELOP TENSION AND CAUSE YOUR CLIENTS' PAIN, AND HOW TO EFFECTIVELY RELEASE THAT TENSION TO CREATE GREATER EASE IN YOUR CLIENTS.

Here's a glimpse at what you'll be getting in the LIVE version of

Trigger Point Therapy for Sciatica

ANATOMY

In the PowerPoint portion of the training, I teach you about the adductors and abductors of the hip as well as the quadratus lumborum.  When these muscles get wonky, all kinds of pain and dysfunction arises, including sciatica and herniated discs.

CAUSES OF SCIATICA

Learn how certain sports activities and postures can create sciatica symptoms, even just crossing the legs!

SYMPTOMS

Students will learn the pain referral patterns of the muscles we are working with, including sciatica like symptoms, electric sharp pain in the SI joint, hip weakness, and more.

DEMONSTRATION

I will demonstrate to you where to begin to be the most successful in your treatment, and how to proceed from there.  Some of the work will be performed side lying and proper draping will be taught.

About Trigger Point Therapy for Sciatica

10am-6pm each day

In this two day LIVE training, I guide students through the anatomy of the hips and the sciatic nerve, the adductors and abductors of the hip, and the quadratus lumborum (QL)   We explore where these muscles live, what they do, and how they get out of good relationship with each other.  We also discuss the positions and postures that can create sciatica and sciatica-like symptoms.

Many of our clients, okay, ALL of our clients, are experiencing stress and perhaps locked in chronic states of stress.  Who isn't?  And quite frankly, intense pain is stressful.  To be successful in ANY therapeutic massage work, it's helpful to understand how stress affects the nervous system and contributes to the cycles of pain.  In this class you will learn a simple breathing practice that you can guide your clients through to help them relax more deeply, sink into the table, and prepare to receive the excellent work ahead.   Frankly, I use this practice as I begin EVERY SINGLE session, because everyone's got stress.  This guided breathing is something you might want to offer all your clients, not just those with sciatica and hip pain.

After I give you all that anatomy background and talk about what causes tension in these muscles, I then guide you through each step of the protocol, palpation and trigger point location and release.

Your clients with sciatica will thank you for learning these techniques.  Let's get started.
